Walk north to Hammershus Castle Ruin

Experience the spectacular sights and historical flavor of the North Route

Walk down to Plads 83/84 - at the sign "Udgang til Finnedalen". Follow the red markings on trees and stones until you reach the gravel road Finnedalsvej. Turn right until you see a gate on your left where you can follow the path through Egisdalen all the way to the coast. When you reach the coast, follow the rescue path northwards via the yellow markings until you reach Hammershus Slotsruin.

On the tour you may meet or hear sheep and goats, which have been tending the protected nature areas on Nordbornholm since 1967. Dogs must therefore be kept on a leash throughout the route.

Continue along the coast, which takes you both high and low in the landscape. Along the way, you can enjoy the beautiful panoramic view of the Baltic Sea towards Sweden. To the south, you can look down to Vang fishing village and harbor.

As you approach Hammerhus Slotsruin, you'll come to a clearing where you'll have a great view of the ruin majestically towering on the cliff top. From here you can also see all the way to Hammerhavn and further up towards Hammerknuden.

Once you've walked around Hammershus and experienced the many historical stories, you can end your tour at Hammerhavn, where you can buy delicious sandwiches and ice cream.
