Lyngholt Camping: Bike ride to Allinge-Sandvig

Smoked herring & ice-cream sundaes

Cycle through the forest and enjoy a tour around Allinge-Sandvig

The route to Allinge-Sandvig starts from Lyngholt Camping's parking lot. Here you drive approx. 400 m to the left on the country road before crossing the road and turning left again onto the cycle path towards Allinge.

The tour goes through the beautiful Slotslyngen and on past the working quarry museum Moseløkke. Simply follow the signs towards Allinge. The cycle path ends at Allinge Cemetery, where a number of Russian soldiers who were stationed on the island from May 1945 to March 1946 are buried. The grave site is marked with a black granite obelisk.

As you continue down through Allinge, you'll see several large half-timbered farmhouses from the 1800s that have now been converted into hotels. When you reach the smokehouse, you can enjoy a nice lunch of smoked Bornholmer (smoked herring).

You can then choose to continue cycling along the road to Sandvig or return to Allinge Cemetery, where you can follow the old railway line to Sandvig. If you choose the railway line, you will cycle past Bornholm's largest petroglyph field, Madsebakke.

When you get back on the highway, turn right. At the mini golf course, turn left and drive straight down to Sandvig Harbor, where you can enjoy the delicious ice cream at Kalas. If you continue to the left, you can see the beach and Hammerknuden.

From here you can continue along the bike path along Sandvig Camping towards Hammersøen and possibly down to Hammerhavnen, from where you can see up to Hammershus Castle Ruin. You can take a break and sail from Hammerhavnen along the cliffs to the camel heads and lion head, the wet oven and the dry oven, which are impressive rock caves on the lake side.

Then it's time to get back on your bike and head home. Here you take the country road towards Hammershus/Slotslyngen. At the large parking lot (for buses), the cycle path begins through Slotslyngen and back to Lyngholt Camping.

There are plenty of great places to eat in both Allinge and Sandvig, so remember to take breaks along the way.
